NEWMAC Championship Recap

Cross Country
MIT's cross country teams swept both team titles for the third year in a row. The men's squad has captured every championship in the 12-year history of the league while the women have claimed six conference crowns. (Women's recap/Men's recap)

Field Hockey
Championship: Defeated Springfield College, 4-2. A trio of first-half goals powered MIT to its first NEWMAC Championship crown. The win gives the Engineers their first berth for the upcoming NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. (Recap)

Semifinal: Defeated Mount Holyoke College, 2-0. A pair of second-half goals lifted MIT to its semifinal victory over the Lyons. (Recap)

Quarterfinal: Defeated Babson College, 3-0. - Making the most out of their first home playoff game since 1998, the No. 2 seeded Engineers blanked No. 7 Babson, 3-0, in a NEWMAC Tournament Quarterfinal. (Recap)

Men's Soccer
Quarterfinal: Lost to WPI, 2-1. A successful penalty kick with 2:26 remaining in regulation lifted No. 4 WPI to a 2-1 victory over No. 5 MIT in the quarterfinal round of the NEWMAC Championship Tournament. (Recap)

Women's Soccer
Championship: Defeated Springfield College, 1-0. For the second day in a row, Alisha Lussiez provided MIT's only goal as it fought off the Pride for its first NEWMAC Championship title. With the victory, the Engineers will be making their first appearance in the upcoming NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Semifinal: Defeated Wheaton College, 1-0. Alisha Lussiez's goal in the 20th minute held up as MIT defeated Wheaton for the first time since 1994. The win also ended a streak of 10 consecutive championship appearances by the Lyons. (Recap)

Quarterfinal: Defeated WPI, 4-0. A trio of second-half goals helped lift No. 3 MIT to a 4-0 victory over No. 6 WPI in a NEWMAC Tournament Quarterfinal game. (Recap)

Women's Tennis

Women's Volleyball
Championship: Lost to Wellesley College, 3-0. No. 2-seeded Wellesley upset No. 1 MIT, 25-14, 25-13, 25-19, in the NEWMAC Championship. (Recap)

Semifinal: Defeated U.S. Coast Guard Academy, 3-0. Behind a match-high 21 kills from Alex May, the No. 1-seeded Engineers defeated the No. 4 Bears, 25-19, 25-20, 25-21, in NEWMAC Tournament Semifinal action. (Recap)

Quarterfinal: Defeated Clark University, 3-0. The 2009 NEWMAC Regular Season Champions, top-seeded MIT blanked No. 8 Clark University, 25-11, 25-16, 25-8, in a quarterfinal match. (Recap)
