Jason Besse is in his third year as an athletic trainer at MIT. Besse came to MIT from Keene State College (N.H.), where he worked an athletic trainer from 2013-16. 

During his three years at Keene State, he worked primarily with the men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball and softball teams. Besse worked as a preceptor for the Keene State Athletic Training Program and also served as an adjunct instructor in athletic training, teach Clinical Examination Strategies I. He also helped assist with the transition and implementation of the SportsWare Electronic Medical Record System.

Prior to Keene, Besse was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Boston University and worked with the 2011-12 wrestling team and the 2012-13 club hockey and cheerleading teams. Overall, the athletic training department at BU provided medical care for 23 NCAA Division I varsity teams, 32 collegiate club teams and two high schools. Besse also assisted the medical director at a weekly clinic in Student Health Services and was a preceptor for the Boston University Athletic Training Program. 

His other experience includes serving as a member of the medical staff and later as the medical director at the Keene State College Soccer Camps from 2014-16. In this role, Besse was promoted to medical director in 2016 and supervised a staff of four certified athletic trainers that serviced over 400 athletes at the two-week overnight camps. In addition, he has also worked as an athletic trainer at the New England Revolution Academy in Foxboro, Mass. and is an active medical volunteer at athletic events throughout New England.

A 2011 graduate of Messiah College (Pa.), Besse earned his bachelor of arts degree in athletic training and later earned his Masters of education in physical education from Boston University in 2013.
