Stephanie Smith first arrived at MIT in 2006 and operated as the Assistant Fitness Director, teaching dance and fitness classes and supervising over 70 fitness and wellness classes per week. She is currently serving as the Associate Director of Recreation, Programs and Fitness, where she collaborates with MIT departments for campus-wide health promotion programs and marketing initiatives, supervises fitness and wellness programs and oversees maintenance of the fitness facilities and equipment. She is in her 13th year as a member of the MIT staff.
Smith is also active in NIRSA, Leaders in Campus Recreation, and has presented a numerous state and regional level conferences. She co-hosted the Region 1 conference in Boston in 2014 and serves on a variety of national and regional committees.
Previously, Smith worked for two years as a Fitness Intern at the Dublin Community Recreation Center in Dublin, Ohio and for three years as a personal trainer and aerobics instructor at The Ohio State University. Smith graduated from The Ohio State University in 2006 with a degree in Allied Health and Health and Wellness. She received her Masters of Sports Leadership from Northeastern University in January of 2012.
