Nashua, N.H. (July 13) -- MIT baseball junior Matt Johnston (Portola Valley, Calif.) has been named to the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) All-Star Game, which will take place on July 18th at Holman Stadium in Nashua, N.H. Johnston, who is an outfielder for the Brockton (Mass.) Rox, was named to the Nashua (Newcomb) roster and is one of four Rox named to the team.
The 2017 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rookie of the Year, Johnston was named as a 2018 Google Cloud Third Team Academic All-American. This summer, he is ranked 20 in the FCBL in batting average with a .280 average as he has hits in 28 of 35 games and has reached base safely in 30 games.
For the summer, Johnston has 40 hits with nine doubles, one triple and two home runs while scoring 22 runs and driving in 28 runs. He has six stolen bases and 16 walks with an on-base percentage of .364 and an OPS of .763.
