AJ Jurko Named as NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week

Westwood, Mass. (February 5) -- MIT junior guard AJ Jurko (Weston, Fla.) has been named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in a pair of games last week. This is his first NEWMAC weekly award this season as he joins teammates Bradley Jomard (Paris, France) and Cameron Korb (Los Gatos, Calif.) with weekly honors.

In two games, Jurko led the team with 26.5 points, 7.5 assists and six rebounds while also hitting 7-of-11 three-pointers. He finished shooting 58.8 percent from the field overall, 63.6 percent from three and 85.7 percent from the free throw line.

In the team's home victory over Wheaton on Saturday, Jurko nearly posted his first career triple-double as he finished with a season-high 29 points to go along with 11 assists and eight rebounds.

Jurko and the Engineers, who are currently 18-3 overall and 8-2 in the league, return to action on Wednesday night as the team travels to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy for a 7:30 p.m. start in New London, Conn.
