  • Nine Engineers Honored on the NEWMAC All-Conference Football Teams

    The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2017 Football All-Conference Teams on Wednesday afternoon as MIT had nine players earn All-Conference recognition. Voted by the league’s head coaches, the Engineers had six First Team honorees, two Second Team selections and one member of the All-Sportsmanship Team.
  • MIT Football Places Seven on CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

    Seven members of the MIT football team have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for the 2017 season. The program honors the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Each student-athlete is now eligible for selection to the Academic All-America team, which will be announced in December.
  • Football Drops 43-7 Season Finale to No. 20 Springfield

    In the 2017 regular-season finale on Saturday afternoon, the MIT football team dropped a 43-7 final to No. 20 ranked Springfield College as the Pride claimed the first New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship with a perfect 7-0 conference mark.
  • Football Lands 24 On the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team

    As selected by the conference office, a league-leading 24 members of the MIT football team were named to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference Team for the 2017 season. Overall, 87 NEWMAC football student-athletes were honored this season.

    MIT football senior strong safety Mitch Turley (Westfield, Ind.) has been named as the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Player of the Week honors for his play in a home shutout win over Norwich on Senior Day.
  • Football Improves to 7-2 Overall with Senior Day Shutout Win

    On Senior Day at Steinbrenner Stadium, the MIT football team improved to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the NEWMAC with a convincing 20-0 shutout of Norwich University on Saturday night. The game was the final regular-season home game for 13 members of the MIT football program.
  • Football Falls in 24-21 Home Final to WPI on Saturday

    In a game of big plays, the MIT football team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end as WPI defeated the Engineers by a 24-21 final in NEWMAC play at Steinbrenner Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
  • Football Game Time vs. Norwich on 11/4 Pushed Back to 5:30 pm

    The MIT Senior Day football game vs. Norwich on Saturday, November 4th, originally scheduled to begin at Noon, has been pushed back to 5:30 p.m. due to MIT hosting the 2017 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Soccer Championship earlier in the day.

    Behind a three-touchdown, 153-yard performance from sophomore John Robertson (Brentwood, Tenn.), the MIT football team ran its winning streak to five straight with a 30-21 road win over the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in front of a capacity crowd at Coast Guard’s Homecoming.
  • Wright Earns NEWMAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week Honors

    Westwood, Mass. (October 10) -- MIT freshman kicker Mark Wright (Fort Worth, Texas) has been named as the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Football Special Teams Athlete of the Week for his performance in a home win over Maine Maritime Academy.
  • Football Improves to 5-1 With 51-6 Win Over Maine Maritime

    Behind a 185-yard effort from John Robertson (Brentwood, Tenn.), the MIT football team ran its winning streak to four straight with a 51-6 victory over Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday afternoon at Steinbrenner Stadium. MIT also received an outstanding special teams performance, led by a 15-point performance by freshman kicker Mark Wright (Fort Worth, Texas). The Engineers are now 5-1 overall and remain unbeaten in NEWMAC play at 3-0.
  • Goyal, Nicolai Earn NEWMAC Player of the Week Honors

    MIT football junior quarterback Udgam Goyal (Frisco, Texas) and senior linebacker Matt Nicolai (Northport, N.Y.) have both been honored with New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week honors for their play in a win over the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Goyal was named as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Nicolai earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
  • Record-Setting Defensive Effort Leads Football Past USMMA in 35-7 Road Final

    Led by a single-game team record five interceptions and seven forced turnovers overall, the MIT football team ran its winning streak to three straight with a convincing 35-7 road win at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday afternoon in NEWMAC play. The Engineers turned three of those interceptions into touchdowns to improve to 2-0 in conference action.
  • Robertson Earns NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week Accolades

    MIT sophomore John Robertson (Brentwood, Tenn.) has been named as the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) football Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s 38-21 road win at Catholic in the NEWMAC opener. This is the first NEWMAC Player of the Week honor for Robertson.
  • Robertson Leads Football Past Catholic in 38-21 Final

    Led by a career-high 185 yards and three rushing touchdowns by sophomore John Robertson (Brentwood, Tenn.), the MIT football team opened NEWMAC play with a convincing 38-21 road win at Catholic on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers are now 2-0 on the road this season after today’s win in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
  • Big Plays Lead Football Past Endicott in 31-26 Final
    September 16, 2017
    At a packed Steinbrenner Stadium on Alumni Day, the MIT football team used four long scoring plays to build to an early lead, en route to a 31-26 home win over Endicott College on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers scored on plays of 77, 65, 71 and 58 yards to help spark the offense.
  • Football Drops 15-7 Final to Curry in Home Opener

    In the 2017 home opener, the MIT football team dropped a 15-7 final to visiting Curry College in the 26th all-time meeting between the two teams. The Colonels now hold a 19-7 advantage in the series with the Engineers.
  • Football Powers to 28-0 Win at Becker in Season Opener
    September 01, 2017
    In the 2017 season opener on Friday night, the MIT football team picked up a 28-0 road win at Becker College to open the season at 1-0 overall. MIT held a 299-187 advantage in total offense and forced three turnovers in the victory.
  • Football Tabbed Fifth in NEWMAC Preseason Coaches Poll

    Westwood, Mass. (August 30) -- The MIT football team has been chosen fifth in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Preseason Poll, as announced by the league office. The 2017 season is the inaugural season for NEWMAC football as the Engineers previously competed in the New England Football Conference (NEFC).
  • Football Announces the Upcoming 2017 Season Schedule

    Cambridge, Mass. (June 22) -- The MIT football program has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2017 season, which will mark the team’s first season in the newly formed New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) football conference. The Engineers will be under the direction of ninth-year head coach Chad Martinovich.
