Brian Leighton enters his fourth year as an assistant coach at MIT and will be working with the team’s goalkeepers this season.
Brian carries over 9 years of coaching experience both at the collegiate level as well as the club level. Currently Brian is the Director of Coaching and Operations for the girls program at Valeo FC, where he oversees the individual development of 200+ players ranging in ages of 9 - 18. As an advocate and student of the game, Brian focuses his coaching efforts on individual player development which has allowed players to be recognized by the US National Training Center Program.
Brian was a four-year starter with Mount Ida College’s men’s soccer team, Leighton led the Mustangs to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2005, and received various North Atlantic Conference and Great Northeast Athletic Conference accolades prior to his graduation.
Leighton spent one year competing for the Maine Sting, a member of the US Club Soccer National Premier League before returning to his alma mater as an assistant coach for the women’s soccer team. He spent two years coaching Delta FC, three seasons at Bolts FC and is currently in his third season at Valeo FC.
Leighton holds a B.S in Business Administration and an M.S. in Management from Mount Ida College.
