No. 22 Squash Closes Regular Season With 8-1 Win Over No. 28 Tufts

- Location: Cambridge, Mass. (Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Squash Courts) 

- The Lead: In the regular season finale for the No. 22 MIT squash team, the Engineers picked up their 15th win of the year with an 8-1 win over No. 28 Tufts University on Thursday evening in Cambridge. With the victory, MIT earned its tenth win of the year over a nationally-ranked opponent and conclude the year with a 7-2 record at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Engineers earned six of their eight points by sweeping those respective matches. Freshman Joe O'Connor (Madison, N.J.) led the charge for MIT with his 12-10, 11-5, 11-7 win at position one over Raghav Kumar. Classmates Henry Martin (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Robert Williamson (Weston, Mass.) also posted 3-0 victories as Martin defeated Cameron Ewan 11-8, 11-1, 11-6 at position three and Williamson defeated Salik Awan 11-9, 11-9, 11-9 at position six.

- Senior captain Jeffrey Hu (Phoenixville, Pa.) and sophomores Neel Das (Needham, Mass.) and Wonjune Kang (Seoul, South Korea) also bested their respective by 3-0 scores. Hu defeated Daniel Hutt 11-6, 11-7, 11-7 at position five, Das beat Josh Lee 11-6, 13-11, 11-5 at position eight and Kang defeated Amun Sahrawat 11-6, 11-7, 11-5 at position nine. 

- Sophomore Vedaant Paul Kukadia (Manhasset, N.Y.) edged Alan Litman in five sets at position two as Kukadia took the match by set scores of 13-11, 11-1, 11-13, 4-11, 14-12, while freshman William Wu (Eagleville, Pa.) posted MIT's eighth point as position four as he took down Aidan Porges 11-8, 11-5, 8-11, 11-9.

- At position seven, MIT junior Justin Restivo (Phoenixville, Pa.) was edged in five sets as he fell to Aman Navani by a score of 5-11, 11-6, 9-11, 13-11, 9-11.

- In exhibition play, sophomore Avery Lamp (Short Hills, N.J.) defeated Imran Trehan 11-5, 11-2, 9-11, 10-12, 12-10.

- MIT will await seeding for the College Squash Association Team National Championship which is slated to take place from February 23-25 at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.
