CHICOPEE, Mass. – Head coach Paul Dill eclipsed the 300-win mark at MIT after the men's volleyball team swept Newbury College (25-14, 25-12, 25-17) and host Elms College (25-15, 25-19, 25-21) on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers' ledger improved to 14-4 while Dill's career record, including his one season at the helm at Emmanuel College, now stands at 313-125.
Freshman Skyler Kaufman (Needham, Mass.) amassed 14 kills, a .816 hitting percentage, five blocks, and four digs in the opening win over Newbury. Junior Sean Kropp (Fairless Hills, Pa.) registered 10 kills and two blocks while classmate Martin Krasuski (Aurora, Ill.) connected on eight of 10 errorless hitting attempts and earned two aces. Senior Brendan Chang (Laytonsville, Md.) collected 11 digs, followed by seven from junior Jordan Lucier (Torrance, Calif.). Sophomore Andrew Hall (Lynnfield, Mass.) bolstered the defense with four blocks as freshman Yize Dong (Moraga, Calif.) tallied 39 assists, five digs, and two blocks.
Krasuski paced the Cardinal and Gray's balanced attack with nine kills and produced a .429 hitting percentage versus Elms. Kaufman was next with eight kills and a .545 hitting effort as Hall chipped in six kills. Freshman Matt Reilly (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) racked up seven aces while Dong distributed 29 assists. Chang led the way with 10 digs as Lucier and junior Suyash Fulay (Wexford, Pa.) both had five digs.
Next up for MIT will be a trip to local non-conference foe Emmanuel College on Tuesday, March 1.
