Elmira, N.Y. (July 12) – For the second straight season the MIT men's volleyball team had eight student-athletes qualify for the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) All-Academic List as announced by the league on Wednesday. The Engineers were also recipients of the All-Academic Team award and generated the highest GPA in the UVC, a 3.54 on a 4.0 scale.
Seniors Suyash Fulay (Wexford, Pa.) and Martin Krasuski (Aurora, Ill.) earned their fourth All-Academic honor while junior Tom Leech (Meadville, Pa.) received his third accolade. Senior Jordan Lucier (Torrance, Calif.) along with juniors Andrew Hall (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Tavish Smith (Laguna Beach, Calif.) were repeat selections as sophomores Jacob Gasparich (New Lenox, Ill.) and Parker Hall (Lomita, Calif.) made the list for the first time.
To be named to the UVC All-Academic List, student-athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale during the spring semester. In addition, the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically, display positive conduct on and off campus, and be enrolled full-time at the member institution. The criteria for the All-Academic Team award is registering a team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the spring semester.
