  • Emily Young Named NEWMAC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week

    For the second time this season, MIT senior Emily Young (La Jolla, Calif.) was selected for NEWMAC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week honors as announced by the conference on Monday. The recipient of the Engineers’ second straight weekly accolade, she tallied 12 goals and six assists for 18 points while collecting 12 draw controls in a pair of wins last week.
  • MIT Defeats Wheaton, 23-11; Flooks Breaks Season Assists Record

    A string of six straight goals during a seven-minute span in the first half gave MIT a lead it would not relinquish as it went on to defeat Wheaton College, 23-11, in NEWMAC women’s lacrosse action on Saturday. In the victory, junior Ana Flooks (Weston, Conn.) broke the MIT record for assists in a season which was quickly matched by senior Emily Young (La Jolla, Calif.) as they have both dished out 31 helpers and eclipsed the mark of 30 set by Casey Flynn ’10 in 2010.

    The MIT women’s lacrosse team opened the game with 11 unanswered goals before cruising to a 16-4 win over Emerson College in NEWMAC action on Wednesday night. Senior Emily Young (La Jolla, Calif.) racked up six goals, two assists, and three draw controls for the Engineers.

    MIT senior Katie Notarangelo (Foxboro, Mass.) was tabbed for NEWMAC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week honors as announced by the league on Tuesday. In a 2-0 week for the Engineers, she tallied 11 goals, 16 draw controls, eight groundballs, and six caused turnovers while converting all six of her free-position attempts.
  • Engineers Hold Off Westfield State for 12-11 Win

    Westfield State University came within one goal on two occasions late in regulation but it could not overcome the deficit as the MIT women’s lacrosse team held on for a 12-11 non-conference victory on Saturday night. Senior Katie Notarangelo (Foxboro, Mass.) racked up four goals, six groundballs, six draw controls, and five caused turnovers for the Engineers.
  • Late Surge Powers MIT Past Babson, 17-14

    Tied at 14 with 3:55 remaining in regulation, senior Katie Notarangelo (Foxboro, Mass.) buried three consecutive free-position shots over the course of three minutes to help MIT defeat Babson College, 17-14, in a NEWMAC women’s lacrosse game on Wednesday. She finished the day with seven goals, including a 4-of-4 performance from eight meters, while also collecting 10 draw controls for the Engineers.
  • Strong Second Half Powers Women's Lacrosse to 17-6 Win Over Wellesley

    MIT tallied eight consecutive goals in the second half to help it capture a 17-6 victory over Wellesley College in NEWMAC women’s lacrosse action on Saturday. Senior Katie Notarangelo (Foxboro, Mass.) amassed five goals, four draw controls, and two caused turnovers for the Engineers while Dacia Persky powered the Blue with three goals and two assists.

    Trailing 6-3 early in the second half, the MIT women’s lacrosse team put together an 8-1 game-ending run to capture an 11-7 come-from-behind victory over Bridgewater State University on Tuesday night. Senior Emily Young (La Jolla, Calif.) tallied four goals, including the 200th of her career, while dishing out three assists for the Engineers.

Senior Emily Young (La Jolla, Calif.) led all players with nine points on seven goals and two assists, helping her break the Institute record of 248 career points which was set by Hannah Levy ’17. Kaitlin Braz powered the Lyons with two goals and three draw controls.

    Roanoke College outscored MIT, 12-5, in the first half and used a series of runs to maintain a comfortable margin en route to a 21-12 victory in a non-conference women's lacrosse tilt on Wednesday night. Senior Emily Young (La Jolla, Calif.) tallied three goals and one assist, eclipsing the program's career goals record of 188 that was set by former teammate Hannah Levy '17.

Senior Katie Notarangelo (Foxboro, Mass.) generated a game-high six goals for the Engineers while Sam Sullivan posted five goals and three groundballs for the Panthers.
  • Women’s Lacrosse Opens Season with 16-15 Overtime Win at Keene State

    Junior Ana Flooks (Weston, Conn.) converted a free-position shot with 14 seconds left to force overtime and then connected on a pass from senior Emily Young (La Jolla, Calif.) just 36 seconds into the extra session to give the MIT women’s lacrosse team a 16-15 victory over Keene State College on Wednesday afternoon. Young finished with a game-high seven points as the first of her five goals helped her become the fifth player in program history to record 200 career points.
