Women's Lacrosse Tabbed for Third in NEWMAC Preseason Poll

Westwood, Mass. (February 19) – The recipients of one first-place vote, the MIT women's lacrosse team was picked to finish third in the NEWMAC Coaches Preseason Poll.

NEWMAC Tournament semifinalists the last four seasons, the Engineers return senior All-Conference honorees Katie Notarangelo (Foxboro, Mass.) and Emily Young (La Jolla, Calif.).

Reigning conference champion, Babson College, was first in the coaches poll, followed by 2017 regular-season champion and NEWMAC Tournament runner-up Springfield College, which received two first-place votes. Following MIT, Wellesley College and Wheaton College tied for the fourth slot.

Under the direction of second-year head coach Anne Versprille, the Engineers open the season on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at Keene State College.
