Jessica Chen Named NEWMAC Women's Swimmer of the Week

Westwood, Mass. (February 5) – For the second time this season, MIT women's swimming and diving senior Jessica Chen (Rockville, Md.) has been named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Swimmer of the Week.

Chen closed her dual meet career with two individual wins and one second place finish for the No. 8 Engineers on Saturday afternoon against No. 10 Amherst. Individually, Chen touched the wall first in both the 100-breast in a time of 1:06.18 and the 200-breast in a time of 2:24.08. Prior to her individual swims, she clocked a time of 1:49.07 for second place with the 200-medley relay team to open the final dual meet of the season for the senior.

MIT finished its regular season schedule with an overall record of 5-4 which included a 5-1 mark against Division III opponents this winter. The Engineers return to the pool on February 22, when MIT hosts the NEWMAC Championship which is scheduled to last through February 25.
