Cambridge, Mass. (May 13) - The MIT Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER) is set to virtually host its 34th annual Student-Athlete Excellence Banquet on Wednesday, May 27 at 5:00 pm Eastern time. The show will premiere live on the MIT Athletics Facebook page at that time (https://www.facebook.com/MITAthletics).
The awards show will feature remarks from new Director of Athletics/DAPER Department Head Dr. G. Anthony Grant, remarks from Shea Landeene (women's volleyball) and Emily Berzolla (women's soccer) of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, remarks from a special student-athlete guest speaker and the revealing the winners of each of the 11 major awards for the 2019-20 academic year.
Beginning on Friday, May 15 and continuing through Friday, May 22, we will be showcasing the nominees for each of the 11 major awards via Adobe Spark. These releases will be made available both on our social media (@MITAthletics) on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well as on our website www.MITAthletics.com.

Male Varsity Club Award: Presented to the outstanding male first-year athlete of the year
Female Varsity Club Award: Presented to the outstanding female first-year athlete of the year
Male Philip A. Trussell '56 Prize: Presented to a male undergraduate student-athlete who demonstrate skill, sportsmanship and levity
Female Philip A. Trussell '56 Prize: Presented to a female undergraduate student-athlete who demonstrate skill, sportsmanship and levity
Admiral Edward L. Cochrane Award: Presented annually to a male senior who has shown the highest qualities of humility, leadership and inspiration in intercollegiate athletics
Pewter Bowl Award: Presented annually to the female senior who has shown the highest qualities of inspiration and leadership in contributing to women's athletics
Male Malcolm G. Kispert Award: Presented annually to the male scholar-athlete of the year
Female Malcolm G. Kispert Award: Presented annually to the female scholar-athlete of the year
Howard W. Johnson Award: Presented annually to the male senior athlete of the year
Betsy Schumacker Woman Athlete of the Year Award: Presented annually for excellence in athletic competition by a female undergraduate
Harold J. Pettegrove Award: Presented to a student in recognition of Outstanding Service to Intramurals
