"Meet the Coaches" with MIT Rifle Head Coach Melissa Mulloy-Mecozzi

Cambridge, Mass. (April 7) -- As part of a series that is taking place throughout the 2020-21 academic year, the Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER) is featuring a number of head coaches and DAPER staff members. This next installment of the series features rifle head coach Melissa Mulloy-Mecozzi, who is in her 10th season at MIT.

Q: What is your favorite quote?
A: "You learn more from failure than from success."

Q: What do you do to relax outside of work?
A: Walk my dog, hike, garden and spend time with my daughter and husband.

Q: What is your professional sports team?
A: Boston Bruins

Q: What is your favorite sport to watch on TV?
A: Winter Olympic sports like downhill skiing and figure skating.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant?
A: The Tiller Restaurant in Cape Neddick, Maine. I like the sea burger.

Q: Have you taken up a new hobby or started watching a new TV show over the last year working remotely?
A: I have been cleaning, painting and decorating my house, gardening, reading and hiking to lots of local waterfalls.

Q: Who is your favorite athlete of all-time?
A: I actually don't have one in particular. I have probably been drawn to many over the years who have qualities and attributes that I have admired at different points in my life.

Q: What is your favorite vacation spot?
A: Cabin in Maine

Q: What is your favorite book?
A: Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon

Q: What is the coolest athletic event that you have ever attended?
A: Opening Ceremonies for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
