  • Baseball Earns Third Straight ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award

    For the third consecutive season, the MIT baseball team has been honored by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) with the Team Academic Excellence Award. Teams from every level of college and high school baseball were recognized with this year’s award as eligible teams had to post a 3.0 team GPA on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2019-20 academic year. The ABCA established the award in the 2015-16 season.
  • Johnston Named CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America; First Three-Time Academic All-American for MIT Baseball

    Austin, Texas (June 9) -- MIT senior outfielder Matt Johnston (Portola Valley, Calif.) has been named as a 2020 First Team Academic All-America honoree, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Johnston is the first three-time Academic All-American in MIT baseball program history as he earns First Team accolades for the first time.

    MIT senior baseball right fielder Matt Johnston (Portola Valley, Calif.) has recently been named as a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District selection for the third straight season. Johnston, a two-time Academic All-America honoree, now advances to the national Academic All-America ballot.

    The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced the 2020 Baseball Academic All-Conference selections. MIT tied for a league-best 16 selections as 66 total NEWMAC Baseball student-athletes were honored.

    Westwood, Mass. (April 18) - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced its 2020 Spring All-Sportsmanship selections. The award is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each institution in every sport that best demonstrates the ideals of the NEWMAC and its Code of Conduct, regardless of their overall performance or statistics for the season.

    Cambridge, Mass. (March 18) -- MIT baseball senior right fielder Matt Johnston (Portola Valley, Calif.) has been named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for his performance in a road win at Nichols College. He was previously named as the NEWMAC Co-Athlete of the Week on Monday.
  • Johnston Ties D3-Single Game Homer Record in 13-7 Win at Nichols

    Led by a four-home run game by senior Matt Johnston (Portola Valley, Calif.) and eight homers as a team, the MIT baseball team came away with a 13-7 road win at Nichols College on Monday afternoon. Johnston’s performance ties the NCAA Division III single-game record, which was last accomplished by David May of Merchant Marine in 2009 season.

  • Baseball Rallies for 9-5 Season-Opening Win at No. 11 UMass Boston
    March 05, 2020
    Trailing by a 5-2 margin after six innings, the MIT baseball team closed the game with seven unanswered runs as the Engineers rallied past No. 11 UMass Boston for a 9-5 season-opening victory. The Engineers now hold a 23-14 advantage in the all-time series as MIT snapped a four-game losing streak to the Beacons. 
  • Baseball Welcomes Eight Newcomers in Class of 2023 Recruiting Class
