Engineers Lead League with 32 NEWMAC Football Academic All-Conference Selections

Westwood, Mass. (March 11) -- As announced by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), a league-leading 32 members of the MIT football program have been named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team. Overall, 129 football student-athletes were recognized by the league.

Seniors Sam Gantman (Mendota Heights, Minn.), Justen Holl (Chantilly, Va.), Spencer Hylen (Pacific Palisades, Calif.), Charles Magaw (New Orleans, La.) and Mark Wright (Fort Worth, Texas) are all three-time Academic All-Conference honorees, while 11 student-athletes have been honored for the second time in their careers.

Out of the 32 MIT honorees, 10 have a perfect 5.0 GPA on MIT's 5.0 grading scale.

To be eligible for the Academic All-Conference Team in 2020-21, student-athletes must have been a member of their team for the entire semester, reached second-year academic status at their institution and have a cumulative GPA of a 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
