  • Hammond Named NSCAA Regional Scholar Honorable Mention

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Chris Hammond (Wilmington, Del.) was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III Men’s Scholar All-East Region Honorable Mention Team on Tuesday. This is the second year in a row that he has appeared on the list.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After being named to the NSCAA All-America first team and the All-New England North first team earlier this week, senior Ben Lewis (West Hartford, Conn.) added another award to his resume when he was named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Division III All-Star team.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Ben Lewis (West Hartford, Conn.) was named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men’s All-America First Team as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Lewis is only the fourth MIT men’s soccer player to ever receive such an honor, the last of which being Nick Nestle in 2003.
  • MIT Men's Soccer Falls to SUNY Oneonta, 4-2, in First Round of NCAAs

    ONEONTA, N.Y. – After being behind by three goals at the end of the first half, the MIT men’s soccer team lost to SUNY Oneonta, 4-2, in the first round of NCAAs. This is only the third time in program history that the Engineers have made it to the tournament, the last time being in 2008.
  • NEWMAC Announces Fall Academic All-Conference Awards

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A league-leading 57 athletes represented MIT on the 2012 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Fall Academic All-Conference Team. Criteria includes a minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale, achieving second year academic status at his or her institution, and being a member of a varsity team for the entire season.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 2012 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men’s soccer all-conference teams were released on Tuesday, revealing the names of four Engineers. Freshman Sean Bingham (Garden City, N.Y.) was voted as the NEWMAC Rookie of the Year and was joined by sophomore John Kramer (Glastonbury, Conn.) on the Second Team.

Sophomore Nick Diamantoni (Belle Mead, N.J.) scored the golden goal in the 96th minute following a cross from junior Andrew Fijan (Westchester, Pa.).

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Men’s soccer lost to Coast Guard in overtime following a scoreless 90 minutes on senior day on Saturday afternoon when Matt Epperly scored five minutes into overtime. MIT fell to 9-4-1 for the season and 3-2-1 in conference play while the Bears are now at 10-4-1 for the season and 4-0-1 in NEWMAC play.

Freshman Sean Bingham (Garden City, N.Y.) broke the tie when he scored the game-winning goal in the 87th minute of play.

The Babson Beavers remain undefeated with a record of 5-0-1, while the Engineers dipped to 4-2.

    WALTHAM, Mass. - After coming from behind to tie the game at 3-3, the MIT men's soccer team lost to Brandeis in overtime when the Judges scored 79 seconds in on a free kick. The Engineers' ledger fell to 4-0-1, while Brandeis raised their record to 5-0-0.
  • Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Wentworth Institute of Technology, 4-0

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Within 11 minutes of the start of the game, MIT went up 1-0 against the Wentworth Institute of Technology and went on to shut out the Leopards, 4-0. The Engineers are now 4-0-0 for the season, while Wentworth fell to 0-3-1.

Freshman Austin Freel (San Diego, Calif.) tallied two assists, as the Engineers’ raised their record to 3-0, while Framingham State dipped to 0-1-1.
