Swimming & Diving Programs See 23 Student-Athletes Named to CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams

Colorado Springs, Colo. (July 10) - A combined 23 student-athletes from the MIT men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned Scholar All-America and Honorable Mention Scholar All-America honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as the organization released its selections this week. Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams ranked sixth in Division III with 11 and 12 selections, respectively.

In order to be selected for Scholar All-America honors, student-athletes must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale and must have competed at or qualified for their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championship. In order to be selected for Scholar All-America Honorable Mention honors, student-athletes must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale and must have achieved an NCAA "B" cut time or must have competed at the NCAA Diving Regional. Across all divisions, 1,479 swimmers and divers from 209 colleges and universities were honored in 2019-20.

Senior Bouke Edskes (Rockville, Md.) was the only student-athlete from MIT to be selected for the fourth consecutive season. Seven student-athletes earned Scholar All-America honors for the third time including seniors Tim Kralj (Woodinville, Wash.), Lilia Staszel (Brighton, Mich.), Nanette Wu (Cupertino, Calif.) and Blake Zhou (Palo Alto, Calif.) as well as juniors Kailey Allen (Tacoma, Wash.), Sara Nicholas (Wilmette, Ill.) and Deborah Wen (Honolulu, Hawaii).

Additionally, MIT had 11 student-athletes honored for the second time and four student-athletes honors for the first time in their respective careers.
