  • Reduker, Rousseau Named as Finalists for USTFCCCA National Awards

    New Orleans, La. (March 20) -- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced the finalists for the 2019-20 Indoor Track & Field National Awards. Senior Alec Reduker (Newburyport, Mass.) is one of three finalists for National Field Athlete of the Year, while assistant coach Derek Rousseau is one of three finalists for National Assistant Coach of the Year.
  • Reduker, Taylor and Rousseau Earn USTFCCCA Regional Honors

    The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced the indoor track and field regional awards for the 2019-20 season. Senior Alec Reduker (Newburyport, Mass.) was named as the New England Field Athlete of the Year, while Halston Taylor was named as the men’s Coach of the Year and Derek Rousseau earned men’s Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

  • No. 10 Men's Track and Field Soars to New England D3 Indoor Championship

    Led by seven event wins and 29 All-New England performances, the No. 10 ranked MIT men’s track and field team claimed the 2020 New England Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship on Saturday. The Engineers finished with a total of 171 points to defeat No. 5 ranked Williams by a 67-point margin.

    At the Springfield Triangle Classic, the No. 6 ranked MIT men’s indoor track and field team captured five event wins as the team prepares for next weekend’s New England Division III Indoor Championship.
  • Polen, Wei Lead No. 5 Ranked Men's Track and Field at BU and Gordon Kelly Invitational

    Over the weekend, the No. 5 ranked MIT men’s track and field team competed at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University and the Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT. The Engineers notched five top-20 nationally-ranked marks at BU and picked up five event wins and an MIT school record at the Gordon Kelly meet. 
  • Four Top-20 National Marks Lead No. 5 Men's Track and Field at Tufts Cupid Challenge

    At the Tufts Cupid Challenge, the No. 5 ranked MIT men’s track and field team posted four top-20 nationally-ranked marks and captured nine event wins. First-year Kenneth Wei (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) swept the long and triple jumps, including the fifth-ranked leap in the country in the long jump. 
  • Wei Sets MIT Hurdle School Record as No. 6 Men's Track and Field Shines at NEICAAA's and Tufts

    The No. 6 ranked MIT men’s track and field team competed at the NEICAAA Championship and the Tufts Branwen Smith-King Invitational over the weekend. The Engineers finished 17th at the NEICAAA Championship and captured the Tufts meet with a total of 133.5 points. Overall, the team set one school record, two MIT rookie records and had seven event wins. 
  • No. 8 Men's Track and Field Competes at BU and the Art Farnham Invitational

    Over the weekend, the No. 8 ranked MIT men’s track and field team competed at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at BU and hosted the Art Farnham Invitational. At the Art Farnham Meet, the Engineers picked up a pair of event wins. 
  • Reduker Leads No. 8 Men's Track and Field at the Sorlien Memorial Invitational
    January 18, 2020
    Led by two nationally-ranked performances by senior Alec Reduker (Newburyport, Mass.), the No. 8 ranked MIT men’s track and field team competed at the Sorlien Memorial Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers picked up three event wins, had 22 top-10 finishes and eight top-20 nationally-ranked marks.
  • Paced by 13 Event Wins, Men's Track and Field Earns Tri-Meet Victory

    Behind four top-10 nationally ranked marks and 13 overall event wins, the MIT men’s track and field team defeated Bates and Colby in a tri-meet that was held at Bates. The Engineers captured 12 individual events, one relay and posted seven marks ranked among the top-20 in the country.

    Like many European countries, France takes its soccer — or football — very seriously. To further refine the game of top players, a French startup called Footbar created a smart device to measure players’ stats such as speed, stamina, and skill. The artificial intelligence used by the Meteor tracker determines the quality of passes, shots, dribbles, and tackles based only on the acceleration of the tracker worn on the player’s calf.
  • Woltz Named to the Rhodes Scholar Class of 2020

    MIT men’s cross country/track and field senior captain Billy Woltz (Logan, Ohio) has been elected to the American Rhodes Scholar Class of 2020. Woltz is one of five MIT students and 32 students nationally that received what is considered the most elite award and scholarship for international study.
