Reduker, Rousseau Named as Finalists for USTFCCCA National Awards

New Orleans, La. (March 20) -- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced the finalists for the 2019-20 Indoor Track & Field National Awards. Senior Alec Reduker (Newburyport, Mass.) is one of three finalists for National Field Athlete of the Year, while assistant coach Derek Rousseau is one of three finalists for National Assistant Coach of the Year.

Reduker, the New England Regional Field Athlete of the Year, finished the season ranked in the top-15 nationally in the high jump, triple jump and long jump. In the high jump, he posted the top mark in the country and ninth all-time in Division III as he cleared seven feet, 1.5 inches at the D3 New England Indoor Championship. He also ranked fifth in the triple jump at 48 feet, 10.25 inches and 13th in the long jump at 23 feet, 6.75 inches.

Rousseau, who was named as the New England Assistant Coach of the Year for the second time in three years, coached the top jumping unit in the nation this season with four national qualifiers. In addition to Reduker qualifying for Nationals in three events, junior Yorai Shaoul (Raanana, Israel) and first-year Kenneth Wei (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) qualified in both the long and triple jumps and senior Chris Washington (Frisco, Texas) qualified in the high jump. Wei also qualified in the 60-meter hurdles with the No. 7 time in the nation.
