  • Women’s Basketball Collects Seven NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Awards

    The MIT women’s basketball team collected seven NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team selections as announced by the league on Tuesday. The list is comprised of 62 student-athletes who earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or 4.35 on a 5.0 scale after the 2021 spring semester, achieved second-year academic status at their institution, and have been a member of the team for the entire semester.

  • Christina Antonakakis Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

    Junior Christina Antonakakis (Holmdel, N.J.) was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Team, marking her first selection and the sixth time in seven years MIT was represented on the list. She advances to the national ballot and will contend for Academic All-America honors to be voted on later this month. MIT is the all-time Division III leader in producing Academic All-Americas and currently ranks second across all NCAA divisions with 339 honors.
  • Lucia Robinson-Griggs Named as Women's Basketball Head Coach/Physical Education and Wellness Instructor

    Lucia Robinson-Griggs has been named as the MIT women’s basketball head coach/physical education and wellness instructor, as announced by Dr. G. Anthony Grant, director of athletics/DAPER department head. She returns to MIT from Vassar College (N.Y.), where she has served as the women’s basketball head coach and physical education instructor since September 2019.
  • NASA Astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli ’05 Named to Artemis Team

    Last Wednesday, former multi-sport student-athlete Jasmin Moghbeli ’05 was among 18 astronauts selected by NASA to form the Artemis Team and help pave the way for the next astronaut missions on and around the Moon as part of the Artemis program. The agency’s modern lunar exploration program will land the first woman and next man on the Moon in 2024 and establish a sustainable human lunar presence by the end of the decade.
  • Raman Named as Assistant Coach of NBA's Memphis Grizzlies

    MIT women’s basketball head coach/assistant director of compliance Sonia Raman has resigned to accept an assistant coach position with the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Raman begins her duties with the Grizzlies on November 1, 2020.
