    Cambridge, Mass. (May 19) - As part of a series that is taking place throughout the 2020-21 academic year, the Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER) is featuring a number of coaches and DAPER staff members to learn more about them. This next installment of the series features Becca Shaw, who is in her second year as the Special Assistant to the Athletic Director/Department Head and her seventh season as an assistant with the Field Hockey program.
  • Field Hockey Racks Up NFHCA Academic Honors

    The MIT field hockey team led all Division III programs with an Institute-record 11 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Scholars of Distinction while a program-record 21 student-athletes were named to the National Academic Squad. The Engineers, who compiled a 3.87 GPA on a 4.0 scale during the 2020 fall semester, tied Kean University for the highest team GPA and were recipients of their 19th straight National Academic Team Award. This was the second year in a row and fourth time MIT has produced the highest GPA among Division III teams.
  • MIT Places Program-Record and League-High 20 Student-Athletes on NEWMAC Field Hockey Academic All-Conference Team

    The MIT field hockey team amassed a program-record and a league-high 20 Academic All-Conference Team selections as announced by the NEWMAC on Tuesday. The Engineers surpassed the previous record of 13 which they set during the 2019 season and paced the conference for the second year in a row. The list consists of 79 total student-athletes from the sport of field hockey.
